## Theme Music Review <audio controls src="https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/3/3e/MM10-Absolute_Chill-Chill_Man_Stage.ogg"></audio> > [!rank-3] Rank (M3R Rank:: 3) > [M3R Rating:: 4/5/5/4] > [M3R Grade:: S]  I'm not going to lie - one of the main reasons this track scores so high is because it's one of the most unique sounding ice themes in the entire Mega Man series, and "originality" is one of the harder metrics to hit as you may have noticed. But one thing ice themes almost always do well is combine a pleasing soundscape with strong theming. So, in regard to the metrics, an ice theme that happens to sound original on top of this is theoretically going to place very high. And here we are. When the track first opens, you are not sure what you are in for. It doesn't necessarily sound "good" off the jump. But it does establish a very eerie, foreboding atmosphere. Then the B section hits, and we are greeted with this sort of desperate soundscape that drives the fact that we are **not** just doing the usual sparkly snow-level theme that you hear most of the time. The following two sections give us a feeling of powering on through a harsh environment with a sort of determination fitting of Mega Man himself. And the final section before the loop brings home this feeling of danger, while giving us a variation of the intro section to bring things full circle. Which brings us to another point I need to make about this track - very much like Tornado Man, this track has five distinct sections that do **not** repeat at all! It cannot be understated how rare that is in the classic Mega Man music-verse - It goes something like I-A-B-C-D-E where "I" is the intro. **Shusaku Uchiyama** worked primarily on *Mega Man 8* before this. His style is, not surprisingly, quite chill, but is also decidedly upbeat. With Chill Man, he takes things in an unexpected direction with the darker vibe, and it just works so beautifully.
