I've been back and forth on this track being in the top ten, but whether it ends up there or not, it’s eternally there in my heart. A solid track composed by the legendary godmother of Mega Man music, **Manami Matsumae**, who kicked us off with the original game's soundtrack, and was rightfully brought back to do a track on *Mega Man 10*.
It's not very complicated, but in a good way I think. A retro synthwave style melody carries us through the nighttime highway stage, and compliments the idea of a motorcycle-transformer Robot Master waiting for us at the end. It has the feeling of telling a story, with the first section conveying a feeling of dramatic duty, and the second having a timeless feel as if we are taking on said duty. The third section feels tireless, as if we are powering through despite all odds, and the final section gives us a beautiful resolution that feels like victory and triumph. The arrangement itself is rather simple, lacking a lot bends and vibrato you tend to find in other high energy tracks, and yet it still manages to channel the sort of gravitas that you might hear in a Wily stage.
I think that last point ties into the final thing I want to say here - it was kind of hard to score this track, to be honest. It's almost like the *execution* of the track is not as dramatic as the style it's composed in - the end result is this "final stage" sort of vibe in an otherwise simple package. But, all things considered, it *does* feel right to honor Manami Matsumae with a write up in the top ten, so I'm glad it's here for now!
