## Theme Music Review <audio controls src="https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/7/78/Snake_Man_Stage.flac"></audio> > [!rank-30] Rank (M3R Rank:: 30) > [M3R Rating:: 5/2/4/3] > [M3R Grade:: B] One of the most iconic bangers in all of Mega Man—I feel like this is one of the tracks that often gets mentioned as people’s favorite. The fact of the matter is that a lot of the tracks from 3 represent the foundation on which the newer tracks were laid, and Snake Man *is* one of the most solid tracks on 3, so it makes sense. I personally favor more of the wild stuff that tends to come after 3, but this game *is* home to one of my favorite tracks of all time, even if it’s not Snake Man. So, why do people tend to like this track so much? ^preview Well, I recently watched a [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKE2jesHBpE&t=595s) reacting to Mega Man music, and the first 8-bit track that was covered was Snake Man. One major point that was made here is how much personality the older 8-bit and 16-bit stuff has, which is due in part to the simplicity of the soundscape and how it necessitates more thought to keep things interesting for the listener. This (paraphrased) excerpt from said video sums it up well, I think: > [!quote] MarcoMeatball > You get a sense of Snakeman's stage / Snakeman's personality through the music. There's a real industriousness about Snake Man. There's a real sense of being busy, being really confident and being cocky…like he's serious, but he's also gonna harass you, and make fun of you, and taunt you and stuff. Indeed, there’s a lot of storytelling power in Snake Man’s track (something I also touched on in [[Chill Man - Mega Man 10|Chill Man]] by the way). The first section is sort of fun and playful, the second is more serious and dangerous, and the third has this sort of dramatic and cocky vibe.
